Private marching snare lessons in Boston, MA — in-person and virtual. From rudiments and roll quality to audition prep and ensemble cleaning. For students at every level, from middle school drumline to college DCI hopefuls.

I'm Eliott Bryson — a marching snare drummer with 20+ years of playing experience. I started on the line in high school and carried that foundation through college, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance while continuing to play.
My teaching philosophy comes down to two things: professional form and fun practice. Clean technique is what carries you from middle school drumline to the audition that matters — but if practice feels like a chore, you'll never put in the reps. I help students build habits they actually want to come back to.
Technique breakdowns, exercise demos, and performance clips — all on the Bryson Percussion YouTube channel.
A few simple ground rules so we can both focus on the music.
Lessons require 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule without penalty. Use the link in your booking confirmation email to reschedule any time before that window.
Late cancellations and no-shows are non-refundable, but every student receives one makeup lesson per package — life happens, and I'd rather you reschedule than skip practice entirely.
Rates and payment details are shared upon inquiry. Single lessons and packages are typically paid at the time of booking once we've confirmed the right fit.
Package lessons are valid for 6 months from the date of purchase. Unused lessons after that period expire.
Virtual lessons are conducted over Zoom. For the best experience, you'll need a stable internet connection, a practice pad or snare, and ideally a second device or external camera so I can see your hands clearly.
I'll send setup tips before your first virtual lesson.
In-person lessons take place in Boston, MA. The exact studio address is shared in your booking confirmation. Please arrive 5 minutes early to set up.
Bring your own sticks and pad. Snare drums are provided on-site.
Parents and guardians are welcome to sit in on any lesson, in-person or virtual. For students under 14, I encourage at least the first lesson be observed so you understand the practice expectations.
All lesson booking and communication for minors should be handled by a parent or guardian.
If travel becomes unsafe due to weather, in-person lessons can be moved to virtual at no charge — just message me before your scheduled time.
If a virtual swap isn't possible, the lesson will be rescheduled at no penalty regardless of the 24-hour window.
For lesson inquiries, gig bookings, or clinic requests — drop a note and I'll get back within 24 hours.
